
Trinidad and Tobago’s Tyriq Horsford won gold in championship record fashion in the U-17 javelin on Sunday’s third and final day of the 2019 Carifta Championships in the Cayman Islands.
Horsford threw 71.45m for a comfortable win over Grenada’s Deandra Collins whose best mark was 66m. The Bahamas’ Sean Hughie Rolle won the bronze medal with 60.45m.
Another championship record went in the u17 triple jump where Johnathan Miller of Barbados won with his mark of 15.30m.
Trinidad and Tobago’s Kelsey Daniel was next best with his jump of 15.14m while Jamaica’s Apalos Edwards claimed the bronze medal with his best effort of 15.05.
Meanwhile, in the pole vault, Thiery Baptiste won with 4.85m. Vano Rahming of the Bahamas won the silver medal with 3.75m. The bronze went to Durand-Louis Nerome who cleared 3.60m.
