
Some of Jamaica’s top athletes will get valuable relay practice for the upcoming IAAF World Relays when they suit up for the annual Penn Relays at the Franklin Field in Philadelphia from April 24-27.
Chief among the athletes selected are former 100-metre world record holder Asafa Powell and Olympic champions Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Elaine Thompson.
Veterans like Oshane Bailey, Nesta Carter and Rasheed Dwyer were also selected for the annual relay carnival that has enjoyed significant Jamaican support for several decades.
Also included in the 32-member team are youngsters Fitzroy Dunkley, Demish Gaye, Nigel Ellis, Daniel Glave and Chadic Hinds.
National 400m record holder Rusheen McDonald was also selected as were Jevaughn Minzie, Chad Walker and Kenroy Anderson.
Among the female contingent travelling to Pennsylvania are 2015 4x400m World Championships gold medalist Shericka Jackson.
2018 CAC sprint relay champion Sashalee Forbes has also been selected to the squad that also features relay veterans like Schillonie Calvert-Powell, Verone Chambers, Christine Day and Gayon Evans.
Tiffany James, Anastacia Leroy and Jura Levy were also among the athletes selected.
Roneisha McGregor, Stephanie McPherson, Natasha Morrison, Janieve Russell, Sherone Simpson and Rhonda Whyte complete the team.
